Rationale
Trewern exists to provide a residential experience for the young people of Barking and Dagenham and to promote experiential learning through a variety of educational experiences, in an environment that contrasts with their home area.
Mission Statements
- To be the first choice provider of professionally led, residential outdoor education and field studies courses, for the young people of Barking and Dagenham. Programmes of work should support the 'Every Child Matters' outcomes framework, the national curriculum and PSHE, citizenship and outdoor education sessions run by schools.
Trewern offers students:

A facility to develop skills that are not easily demonstrated or used in the classroom.
A learning environment that contrasts with their home area.
- To provide opportunities and facilities for all residents within Barking and Dagenham to experience 'outdoor activities'.
- To be viewed as a 'Centre of Excellence' in the provision of outdoor education programmes for students, for teachers and for other adults who are involved in leading groups, from Barking and Dagenham, in the outdoors.
